Pomodoro Italian Kitchen, located at 1811 Hillandale Rd in Durham, NC, has garnered a wave of positive reviews for its hearty, traditional Italian offerings. Guests have delighted in dishes like the Beef Marsala and Chicken Florentine Farfalle, both praised for their generous portions and flavorful sauces that evoke the essence of Italian comfort food. Reviewers like Shakespeare appreciated not just the delicious food—especially the pesto and bolognese—but also the warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for solace during stressful times. Catherine Lambeth highlighted the restaurant's ability to handle large parties with excellent service, though she noted the absence of craft beer on the menu. The casual dining setting, described by Matthew Kuliani, is perfect for families seeking authentic Italian classics like lasagna and pizza, served in portions that often leave diners pleasantly stuffed. Additionally, the emphasis on fresh ingredients, as noted by Torian Stinnette regarding their shrimp Alfredo, has created loyal patrons eager to return. Overall, Pomodoro Italian Kitchen serves as a comforting culinary escape, where you can indulge in satisfying meals and enjoy the warmth of the staff, making it a noteworthy destination for Italian cuisine lovers in the region.

What was supposed to be a party of 12 blossomed into 24 . Despite the large number, our server Patrick delivered excellent service! Food was hot and delicious . Only downside was they do not have Craft beer or beer on tap.

We went because they offered salmon that my 8 year old daughter was craving. Obviously it is an Italian restaurant so there's more than just salmon so the rest of us had plenty of options. It's a standard-type restaurant; Booths and tables, servers and multi-page, plastic menus, drinks served in those sturdy, clear plastic cups, etc. It is casual dining, not the kind of place you dress up a bit. The food is generous so you really don't need appetizers unless you are prepared to bring some food home. The atmosphere is an Americanized Italian place, ya know, Italian tropes and such. Don't expect an authentic Mediterranean experience, this is a place to get pasta, lasagna, fried seafood, pizza, etc in portions big enough to shock a native European. It's all Italian comfort food. That's it and that's what they excel at. Sit down, order something filling and get extra cheese.

Ordered take out. And every time it was so good. Definitely a go to Italian restaurant in this area. The salmon was great and the lobster ravioli was good. The only thing that could have been better is the bread.

We loved the food and service! The shrimp Alfredo was AMAZING! I had the Strawberry Lemon Drop martini and it was very good. Pasta was fresh. Food came out hot. Nothing negative to say. Will visit again on our next trip to Durham.

Nice place for a date, if you looking for good food and service that will not break your pockets. The server was knowledgeable, very nice and very quick. Food came out so fast I was still buttering my second helping of the free bread. I love it! My meal felt as if were melting in my mouth it was so good and while eating I was already thinking about what to order when I come back. Definitely coming back! I didn’t get to try the drinks or dessert but I’m going to be making a special trip back just for that. Promise to have an update!

Our server was amazing, I wish I had caught her name! We got a Buffalo Chicken pizza, meatlovers, and Grandma's pizza. All of it was really good, perfect amount of cheese, not too much ot too little. The house margaritas are strong but good. Update- Our server Taylor was as nice as can be. I had gnocchi with bolognese, the kids had a pizza, to which my picky youngest daughter loved, and my husband had the calzone. Pickup of pizza tonight. Always the best!
